Being Momma G: Day 182

Dear Sean,

Happy Half Birthday to our darling little man!

Daddy and Momma can hardly believe how big you've grown, and how quickly time has flown!

In this month, you've achieved three major milestones:

* You've grown a tooth, with another well on its way.
* You've learned to roll over from your back to your tummy and on to your back again, unassisted!
* And you've also learned to sit up on your own without having to be supported!

What a clever little sausage you are!

Your little tooth came through 2 days ago, and it's razor sharp! Momma put her finger in your mouth to feel the tooth, and it is indeed very sharp and pointy. It looks very much like the little nub next to your tooth is going to become another tooth in a few days.

You're still getting the hang of crawling, but you seem to understand the concept and we are sure you will be moving around a lot more in the near future. It's so funny watching you try to crawl - you use your face to help you move forward, and more often than not, you go around in circles rather than move forward or backward.

You can flip from your back to your tummy with ease now, and you've learned that if you throw your legs up in the air and let them drop to one side, you can roll over much more quickly. Daddy and Momma can't leave you alone in your jungle gym or on your play mat by yourself any more, as you have learned to wriggle about and move in every direction within seconds of being put down on the floor. You are so quick!

These last few days have seen you sitting by yourself without any support at all. You seem to take delight in being able to sit up by yourself, marvelling at how clever you are to be able to stay sitting without leaning against the back of the couch or be propped up against pillows. Now that you are able to sit up by yourself, more and more, you try to get yourself into the sitting upright position, whether you are in the pram, or in the car seat, or in the crook of our arms when we are in bed enjoying morning cuddles. You're even trying to pull yourself up to a sitting position when you are lying down on your play mat!

You've been having some problems with your food - seems you don't want to eat solids for lunch any more, and you're really fussy at dinner time too. Daddy and Momma are a little bit worried that you're not putting on any weight, and while it's fine to be a tall and skinny baby, you need a bit more fat on you during winter time! We are hoping that you are only fussy with your food because your teeth are bothering you, and hope that you go back to being the good little gobble guts you have been in the past.

To celebrate your Half Birthday, Daddy and Momma are taking you to Nelson Bay for a short holiday. You'll get to meet Grandpa John and Grandma Bev when we get there, and because they don't know we are going to pay them a visit, it will be a great surprise for them. Grandpa John and Grandma Bev are Lachlan Henry's grandparents, and Momma's very good friends. Momma hasn't seen them for years, and while they know of you and Daddy, they have yet to meet either of you, so this weekend, Momma is going to introduce you and Daddy to them.

Grandpa John and Grandma Bev own a motel in Nelson Bay, and we have booked in to stay with them. Momma was a bit tricky when she made the booking and didn't tell Grandma Bev that the booking was for us. Momma is looking forward to surprising Grandpa John and Grandma Bev!

Darling boy, we have really enjoyed the last 6 months, and we are delighted to see how big and strong you have grown. We continue to be amazed by every little thing you do, because you are truly magical. We love you very much and look forward to seeing more amazing things from you!

All our love,
Daddy and Momma
