Being Momma G: Day 2

A brand new day, and everyone was feeling a little more refreshed after some sleep. Well, at least I was - I had had a fairly decent night of sleep, after the nurses dosed me up with a bunch of pain relief, and Sean spent his first night in the nursery being cared for by professionals. I would have happily taken care of him myself, but as I was still hooked up to various tubes and lines, which made it difficult for me to get out of bed when one of those tubes was a catheter.

As it was a Sunday, Jonathan went to collect Mina for her first visit with her little brother. We'd arranged with Mina's mother to pick Mina up a little later than usual, and to drop her home a little earlier than usual, as this was a very extraordinary occasion for us. Thankfully, Mina's mother was understanding and permitted these special arrangements. By the time Jonathan and Mina arrived at the hospital, Sean had returned to our room and everyone was ready for cuddles.

We took plenty of photos of Mina and Sean sharing cuddles, before Jonathan and Mina left to wander around Chatswood Westfield and to grab some lunch. Meanwhile, I unsuccessfully attempted to breastfeed Sean, who wasn't quite ready for the feeding and only wanted to cuddle.

Thankfully, all my tubes and lines were removed today, so I was able to get up and move around and feel human again. My parents came by to drop off more nourishing soup, and before long, Jonathan and Mina also returned for more cuddles, before Jonathan took Mina home.

I had planned ahead and chosen a few extra things for dinner, so that Jonathan didn't have to worry about feeding himself when he got home. Jonathan arrived back at the hospital just after dinner was brought to our room, and we ate as fast as we could before we headed to the bathing class.

Jonathan went ahead with Sean so as to not miss the beginning of the class while I was trying to finish dinner. By the time I arrived, I saw that Sean was being used as the "sample" baby, so we didn't get a chance to bathe him. Sean seemed to enjoy his first bath though!

After the bath, Sean enjoyed some Daddy cuddle time. At around 9pm, Jonathan left the hospital with a promise to return bright and early the next day.

All in all, today has been pretty good. Looking forward to going to some of the classes they have on offer for new mums tomorrow, especially the physiotherapy class. My body is aching all over!
