Sean woke at 12.30am for a feed, and just as he started feeding, Mina came into our room because she was having problems sleeping. After sobbing for a while, with Jonathan sitting with her for a while longer, Mina was convinced to stay in bed and try and sleep. The heat was not helping anyone.
Sean in the meantime needed a top up of formula after the feed, and as it had been so hot and the heat had affected my milk supply, we wanted to make sure he had enough to drink and wasn't getting dehydrated. The little man woke again at 4.30am, and again, we gave him some more formula after the feed.
Mina slept in a little bit this morning, only getting out of bed at around 7.30am when her belly rumbled for breakfast. We all got out of bed and had some breakfast while Sean was asleep, which we got through before Sean woke at 9am. The heat must have worn out our little man, for he went straight back to sleep after the 9am feed and stayed down until 1pm.
We spent the morning playing quietly in the lounge room after fighting off the army of ants that has found their way into the kitchen. I hate ants, so Jonathan and Mina did most of the fighting with a big tin of bug spray. Before too long, it was time for lunch, and Sean woke wanting his lunch too. Again, Sean fed and went back to sleep - poor tired little mite.
The reprieve from the oppressive heat finally blew in just after lunch, and we all breathed a sigh of relief. The southerly buster certainly cooled everything down, and we were able to turn off the air conditioner for the first time in almost 3 weeks. We spent the afternoon enjoying the cool breeze and watching Bugsy Malone. By the time Sean was ready to have his next feed, it was time for Jonathan to take Mina home.
Sean's little body must have been so confused by the weather. He'd spent most of his young life breathing air produced by an air conditioner, and finally, this afternoon, he had his first lungful of normal air in a long time. This must have caused a bit of upset in his system as he was very unsettled for hours. Sean fed at 7.20pm, and even after a good feed, he still wanted more, so we gave him some formula and he inhaled most of the portion. From then, he refused to settle down for a sleep.
It's now just after 11pm; Sean has not really slept at all for most of the afternoon, the evening, and now well into the night. We've just finished another feed, and I'm falling asleep. Jonathan has kindly offered to try and settle Sean, so I'm going to head to bed. Hope Sean falls asleep soon - Jonathan must be as tired as me right now, and with work in the morning, Jonathan really needs to sleep.
