Day +38: Sneaky Trip to the Shops

We were a bit naughty today. We snuck out for a shopping trip to Macquarie Centre.

In my defence, we needed more warm winter clothes for Sean. We had plenty of warm clothes, but now that Sean was actually growing, those clothes no longer fit him. Well, not exactly ... you see, our little ape has long arms, and while the winter weight clothes we have fit his body (finally), the long sleeves are not actually covering his arms. At best, the sleeves are three-quarter lengths. At worst, they looked like short sleeves that were slightly too long.

Sean needed long sleeves to keep his arms warm, or his little fingers would become little icicles, so we were off to the shops and buy some new clothes to fit Sean.

We got up early and both had our breakfasts. We got dressed, and I gave Sean his breakfast bolus of milk before we left. It was 9.30am by the time we arrived at Macquarie Centre, and easily found a parking space. The centre was quiet; there wasn't much activity, which was good for us as this meant fewer people in the centre and fewer germs circulating in the air.

We went to Target and had a look at the clothes there. There wasn't anything that really caught my eye in the price range that I had in mind, but I did see a couple of pairs of shoes that I really liked - a pair of bunny slippers and a pair of black suede boots. The bunny slippers were so so so cute, and I couldn't walk away from the suede boots, so Sean became the proud owner of 2 new pairs of shoes. Oops... seems I may be transferring my shoe obsession on to my son!!!

After Target, we went to Big W to have a look at their toddler winter range. There were a few more choices, and much more in our price range, so I went about looking for some tops and pants. I found 2 sweaters and a gorgeous pair of red flannelette pyjamas with puppies all over them. I also found a pair of Bonds moccasins, which were perfect to keep Sean's feet warm. Not only did Sean's fingers become little icicles, his little toes turned freezing to touch too.

Sean fell asleep while I was looking through the racks to see if there was anything else, so I took my time while Sean napped. I walked around Big W looking at other things - I found the latest 4 Ingredients cookbook called One Pot One Bowl and decided I needed to add this to my collection of recipe books, and I looked for an adult sized pair of moccasins for me, after spotting the toddler sized ones. When I'd had my fill of wandering, I went to pay for my items before taking the bags to the car. Sean was still asleep, so we went up to Woolworths to pick up a few items.

Sean woke just as I was putting my items through the self-service check out, so we came home and tried on the clothes. I was happy with our purchases, and even more pleased about our little outing.

We are having visitors this weekend - Chuck and Kyung are coming for lunch on Sunday, so Jonathan and I may go out to the shops again tomorrow. It won't be a sneaky trip if both of us go!
