A full day of shopping was on the cards today. To prep and prime the troops, I made everyone an awesome breakfast of pancakes, which we devoured. Everyone loves pancakes for breakfast!
We really needed to fix the taps in the bathroom, so Bunnings was our first stop of the day to return some of the things we bought last week and buy a few more spindles for the bath and the shower fixings. We also needed better covers for the taps in the vanity, and we found taller ones that should hopefully fit better. Our DIY expedition continued in earnest.
After lunch, we headed to Coles to buy a few more grocery items, before heading home to spend the afternoon watching Jonathan hone his plumbing skills. Thankfully, Jonathan managed to change all the spindles, but we had to reuse the tap fittings on the bath and in the shower. So much for giving the bathroom a much needed facelift. At least none of the taps leaked, and all of them were easier to turn.
We were due to have dinner with my parents tonight. Sean was on his best behaviour and ate as much as his little stomach would hold, without kicking up too much of a fuss.
While I was helping with the dishes after dinner, I told Mum about the sad news we had learned over the past few days. I mentioned that we would be going to Lucas's funeral on Friday, and Mum said she didn't want Sean to go to the funeral. She didn't think babies should attend funerals, and was quite adamant that we didn't take him. Mum's solution as for me to go to the funeral, and Jonathan to stay home and look after Sean. I vetoed that idea immediately, as Lissy and Dave were OUR friends, not just my friends. Mum was still insistent that Sean should not go with us, and offered to look after Sean while we were there. I thanked her and told her I'd find out the time of the service before checking with Mum to make sure they were still able to care for Sean.
The last few days have been so full on. And the next few days will be hectic as well. I hope to hear from Lissy tomorrow about the funeral service times and location, so I can help to organise some balloons for her and Dave to release for Lucas on the day. On the home front, our old couch is being taken away by the Salvos tomorrow, who were more than happy to collect our generous donation without question. Our new couch is being delivered on Wednesday, and Penny is hopefully going to come and collect the futon sofa at some stage this week as well. We have a full day of Clinics ahead of us on Thursday, as we are booked in to see Dr Trahair in the morning and Dr Gray in the afternoon. And then there's a birthday party to go to on Saturday as well. Busy times ahead.
