I know I'm jinxing myself for saying this, but Sean has been perfect all day long. As I type this, it is just after 4.30pm, and our little prince is asleep. Yes, that's right, asleep. And that's the 5th time he's done that today.
After guzzling 125mL of expressed breast milk last night, Sean went pretty much straight to sleep. Jonathan sent me to bed while he was feeding Sean, as I'd completely crashed out on the couch, and he told me this morning that it took no time at all to settle Sean. The little man then slept till just after 2am before wanting more food, and went straight back to sleep after the feed.
Just before 5am, Sean woke again, and as it was around the time Jonathan should have been getting out of bed, the 3 of us had a few cuddles in bed before I fed Sean and tried to resettle him in the bassinet. When that didn't work, Sean came into the big bed for cuddles with me, and we both fell back to sleep for another few hours.
At 8.30am, Sean woke again, and repeated the "textbook baby" trick. He fed, was awake for a little while so we had some play time, and then he fell asleep again, all within about 75 minutes. I even had time to have breakfast and wash my hair and have a shower before he woke up again!
Sean repeated the performance for the midday feed. He fed, played, and when he got tired, I wrapped him in his muslin cloth, cuddled him and he fell asleep. I went about and got myself some lunch, and sat down to enjoy a few TV shows.
Just before 3pm, Sean woke and fed, and just like it has been all day long, we had some play time after the feed, I changed his nappy, then cleaned and moisturised his poor spotty little face, before wrapping Sean up and settling him down to more sleep. It's nearly 5.20pm, and our darling boy is still asleep. I've really had a very easy day today, so far.
After such a perfect day, I just know it's going to be a hellish night.

Yep - spoke too soon. Sean woke at 7pm and has been awake pretty much ever since then. He had a small nap for about an hour, which allowed us to eat. We fed Sean some formula at 8.45pm as a top up, and our little guzzler sucked down 70mL without a breath. As he basically refused to sleep, I fed him again just after 10pm. Jonathan has now spent the last 40 minutes trying to rock Sean to sleep; they've both just retired to the bedroom, which makes me believe Sean is finally asleep. So I'll go too, as he'll be up again at 2am wanting a feed.
YAY I'm so glad you got a day of normal baby! I hope he keeps it up.
ReplyDeleteI hope it keeps it up until Tuesday, I'm looking forward to seeing you both!
