Today had to be the quickest visit to the hospital for Clinic EVER!
I barely had time to get everything out and get Sean fed and watered before we were given permission to leave. It looked like we were finally getting these pesky hospital visits down to an art form.
We arrived at 8am, to be greeted by a pair of closed doors. The nurses were still having their morning meeting to discuss the patient load for the day, but soon, the doors were thrown open and we were ushered into an isolation room.
The nurses were super quick with what they had to do with Sean today, so we were able to get on with breakfast in record time. Dr White was quick with her examination of Sean, and before we could say "boo", Dr Trahair was in the room doing his review as well.
Between Dr Trahair, Dr White and me, we got everything everyone needed to get done completed. We all worked together as a team, and before long, we were ushered out of the ward. I looked at the clock on our way out, and it read 10.30am. That had never happened before, and I was pleasantly surprised. I really hope this happens every week from now on. Waiting around forever to see any doctor is not my idea of fun.
Since we were finished so early, Sean didn't even have a chance to have his nap at the hospital. I drove very slowly to Chatswood so Sean could at least nap for one sleep cycle, and 40 minutes later, we finally arrived at Chatswood Chase. Just as we were about to pull into the car park, Jonathan called with the latest news relating to those confounded German lessons.
The Evil Witch had finally read the email Jonathan sent earlier in the week, and as expected, she was not pleased at all. She accused Jonathan of being a bad father - an accusation that she freely threw at Jonathan's face every time she felt slighted in any way at all whatsoever. An accusation her idiot mother had also flippantly thrown at Jonathan from time to time. In the past, she had gotten her then partner to call Jonathan and accuse him of being a bad father. It seemed that family was hell bent on trying to make Jonathan believe he was a bad father, because they were more than happy to throw this hurtful lie at him every chance they had.
Emails were exchanged, with the Evil Witch wanting a change to the sleepover arrangements, so that M would not come to us until Saturday afternoon after her play session. As this was not in accordance to the Consent Order, Jonathan refused. The Evil Witch then sent an email offering to cut all ties with Jonathan, revoking all access to M and ceasing all financial obligations to either of them.
That was when Jonathan called me and asked for my opinion on the situation. When I heard that last offer, my heart skipped a beat. In all honesty, that was what I wanted all along, and I told Jonathan as much. When this whole mess blew up in July last year, I wanted Jonathan to cut his losses, cut his ties, and hope that some day in the future, he and M may try to mend their relationship when she was old enough to think for herself and not be emotionally blackmailed by the Evil Witch. At the time, Jonathan wasn't strong enough nor was he fed up enough to stop seeing M and cut his ties with the Evil Witch, but today, almost a year later and a total closer to $14,000 in legal fees poorer, Jonathan was ready to throw the towel in, not because he wanted to stop seeing M, but because he didn't want to deal with the Evil Witch and her idiot family any more.
He was all ready to tell the Evil Witch that he would take the deal, but wanted to talk to me first. I wanted him to take the deal, but I was also very aware that Jonathan may one day end up resenting me for helping him to come to this decision. So I told him to take a breath, and if he wanted to send a response to the Evil Witch, the response should be a question asking her if this was what she really wanted, all over a few play sessions using a handful of German words. In the meantime, I would contact our solicitors to seek some legal advice.
I hung up from Jonathan and called our solicitor Jacqui, only to find that she was away on leave. I was put through to Peter, who had consulted on our matter previously, and told him what had been happening and what course of action could be taken against the Evil Witch to stop her idle threats. Peter said that if the Evil Witch was to try and stop Jonathan from seeing M, then that would constitute a breach of the Consent Order, and we had every right to get the police involved, and thereafter the Family Court involved. The Consent Order is a legally binding document, and to intentionally breach the conditions within the Order would be seen as a criminal offence, which would see the Evil Witch in a LOT of trouble. Peter mentioned the words "criminal record", and "penalty could range from a large fine to much much worse".
I say, toss her behind bars and throw away the keys, I say.
I thanked Peter and called Jonathan back, and relayed the advice I'd been given. I told him that in the end, the decision was up to him - I'd told him what I honestly wanted, which was to severe ties with the Dark Side at the expense of his relationship with M. Jonathan was ready to do exactly that, just so he didn't have to deal with the Evil Witch any more. For now though, we would tell her of the legal advice we had sought and hoped she would see sense and stop making threats.
Ah, just another day in the ongoing saga that is the Evil Witch and her misguided notions that Jonathan owed her in every way.
After the phone calls, Jonathan went back to work and we went to park the car. We paid a visit to Nespresso to get more coffee, some for us and some for David and Kirsty. They'd been out Nespresso coffee for a little while, and I'd offered to pick up some more pods for them, as we needed a few more pods ourselves. We went to Coles for a few items afterwards and headed home.
As with most Thursday nights in recent weeks, we went to my parents' place for dinner. Sean was not happy about eating, and was quite difficult during dinner. He fought against being strapped to his high chair and we had to let him down on the ground to run around and play so the adults could eat in peace. Mum followed Sean and fed him pieces of cooked carrot wherever he sat, and then fed him some chicken broth which Sean slurped down and demanded more. King Sean. Hope he wasn't expecting this level of service at home - Momma won't be spoiling Sean like Por Por did!
I'm glad tomorrow's Friday. It's one day closer to the weekend, and we have plans this weekend - our gorgeous friends Charmaine and Sam and their little man Christian (Sean's "little brother") are due to have lunch with us on Saturday, which is lovely. We haven't seen Charmaine and Sam and Christian for ages, so it will be nice to catch up with them.
