What a nothing day today turned out to be.
Not that I minded. Well, I did, for a little while, but in the end, it was fine to have a nothing day.
With Jonathan working from the Ermington office, we were all "allowed" a bit of a sleep in. One of the wonderful things about Jonathan working from the Ermington office was that it was so close to home - his office was a 15 minute drive from home, which often meant we didn't have to get out of bed until 8am, sometimes even later.
I had wanted to go out to the shops after dropping Jonathan at work, but that meant we had to be out of bed, dressed, and Sean fed before taking Jonathan to work. That didn't happen this morning. Everyone stayed in bed for much longer than anticipated, and by the time we got dressed, it was too late to try and feed Sean any breakfast.
After dropping Jonathan at work, we came home to face breakfast time. Sean took so long to eat his breakfast that by the time he finished, it was time for his morning bolus of milk. With his NG tube feeling slightly blocked, the milk took forever to trickle into his belly. By the time I finished drip feeding the bolus of milk into Sean's belly, it was time for his nap.
Sean took a while to fall asleep, but once he did, he slept for 2.5 hours, effectively sleeping through lunch. I got the housework done, and hoped the little man would wake soon so we could wolf down some lunch and head out to the shops. When Sean finally woke at 2pm, it took another 30 minutes for him to be awake enough to be happy to sit in his high chair.
Lunch was an affair to forget, with Mr Fussy taking a long time to swallow his food. I tried so hard to not be frustrated with him, and I had to take deep breaths to maintain my cool. Just like breakfast, by the time we were finished with lunch, it was time for his lunch time bolus of milk. Yes, my whole life now revolves around this timetable of when to feed Sean what and how much.
The clock read 3.30pm by the time we were finished with the bolus of milk. There really was no point in us going out to the shops now. I turned on the TV and Sean watched Hi-5 and danced to the songs. Sean loved the bright colours and the music, and happily sat in front of the TV for the full half hour that the show was playing.
And then it was time to go and collect Jonathan from work. I mentioned to Jonathan that I had wanted to go to the supermarket all day long, but didn't get the chance to go, so we stopped at West Ryde Woolworths on the way home so I could pick up a few things for our lunch with Charmaine and Sam and Christian tomorrow.
Speaking of the lunch, there was a small chance that the lunch may have to be pushed. Charmaine had a bad cough and didn't want to pass it on to Sean. She was hoping she would feel better by tomorrow, and will contact us in the morning to let us know one way or the other. We are so grateful and so lucky to have friends who are so vigilant about their illnesses so as to not bring the germs and pass them on to Sean.
I have missed Charmaine so much - I really hope we get to see her and her boys tomorrow!
